Gear Required…
-
Helmets – (Must be SNELL 2005 / ECE-22-04 / ECE-22-05 approved) Watch carefully when purchasing a child helmet as most are not approved. Expensive helmets are not necessarily safer. All SNELL 2005 approved helmets have the same safety rating regardless of price. Each “Brand” fit differently, so purchase on proper fit and comfort, rather then brand. Helmets may be spot checked during “Race” events to make sure racers are wearing approved helmets.
-
Boots – Motocross Boots or a high top steel toe boot. Buy what you can afford – look for features like ankle support/protection and quality buckles. You will also appreciate a good firm sole. Motocross boots have smooth soles and are designed to slide over the ground in corners. Trail boots, look like motocross boots, but have a “hiking shoe” type sole for grip. In this case, the more expensive boots do offer better quality and protection. Do your research, you should be able to find a great boot in the $500 range.
-
Jersey – Motocross Jersey or a long sleeve t-shirt - Shop for looks and comfort, they are all pretty much same quality. Must be long sleeve. Vented “Summer” jerseys are available.
-
Pants – Motocross Pants or a heavy denim pant - again, all pretty much the same quality. They all “feel” a little different – go for looks and comfort.
-
Gloves – Motocross gloves – look for snug but proper fit in finger length and minimum “bunching” of material in the palm of your hand when you grip the handlebars. Gloves with extended finger tips can interfere with your clutch and brake levers. To much material in the palm can cause blisters, to short glove fingers can cause hand cramping.
-
Motocross Goggles – Don’t ever ride without them – period!. They are all good. Go for fit and comfort and a pair that support tear offs. Consider the cost of the tear offs in your purchasing decision. (A tear off is a thin plastic film that fit over the lens of the goggle that can be easily removed while riding once it gets muddy restoring clear sight again, typically a rider would apply 3 or 4 layers) Goggles that are designed to fit over prescription glasses are available - they are referred to as OTG Goggles.
Optional but recommended Gear …
-
Neck Braces - Leatt and Alpinestar have the most recognized braces with models at different price levels. Prices vary due to different construction materials, but all offer the same protection level. Neck braces are fairly new to motocross and new products are showing up constantly. Do your research and purchase what you can afford.
-
Knee Braces or Guards – At the very least wear knee guards to protect from flying rocks, or landing on a rock, should you dismount your bike suddenly, unexpectedly. Should you have existing knee problems, CTi will work with your Doctor and extended Health Plan to get you a custom fitting pair. “Braces”, as opposed to “Guards” provide a little more protection against over extending and twisting of the knee, but they can put a little more strain on the bones over and under the knee.
-
Chest Protector – (and back protector) Again, a must have in my opinion for the same reason as the knee guard, flying rocks and unexpected dismounts. They are all the same, go for looks and comfort.
-
Kidney belt – Lower back protection and support. Helps with overall comfort while riding.
-
Hand Guards on the bike to protect the knuckles from rocks. They must be open ended so that your hand can slide off the end to the handle bar.

Mission Tuesday Night Series …
-
An LMMC Membership AND a CMA enthusiast OR race licence are required.
-
Track / Sign-up opens @ 5pm – You may be able to come sooner, but the “car track” around the MX track “may” be in use, in which case you may need to wait until they are finished. They usually finish around 4:30, but may take a little longer.
-
Minors must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian during sign up.
-
Practise and race orders must change in order to make the most efficient use of the limited daylight and to maximize ride time. Change is triggered by the sign-ups in each class and their needs, like shared bikes. We will avoid back-to-back motos for a bike due to the time it takes to get a bike off the track and back into the starting gate.
-
We will make an effort to have the small bikes scheduled as early as possible in the program.
-
Riders signing up for more than one class may have motos scheduled with only a small break in between. Those riders will have the opportunity to resign from a class once the race order is posted and receive a refund if the race order can not be easily adjusted. (Note that fixing an issue for one rider may cause issues for other riders)
-
Practice night fees are $25/rider ($15 if there is less then 2 hours of day light)
-
Race Night fees are $20 for the first class and $10 for each additional class. (3 classes max./rider)
-
Gate fee for LMMC “Family” members is $5 / car load. (Charged on race evenings only.)
-
Gate fee for LMMC “Competitor” members is $5 for each person in the car (Charged on race evenings only.)

Should the number of riders signed up within a class exceed the number of start gates available, the eligible riders will be determined by qualification motos.
Example – Should the Novice class have 70 riders signed up, and the track can only support 40 riders in the start gates, then the Novice class would need to run qualifiers. In our example of 70 Novice riders, the riders would be divided into 2 qualifying motos of 35 riders each. From each of the qualifying motos, the top 18 finishers would qualify for the Novice “A” Main, the remainder would go to the “LCQ” (last chance qualifier). From the LCQ, the top 4 finishers ( 18+18+4=40 gates) would qualify for the Novice “A” Main, the remaining riders will proceed to the Novice “B” Main. The Novice “A” and Novice “B” class would then run only 1 moto each in the afternoon to determine over-all winners. Optionally, riders could “Volunteer” to run in the “B” class to avoid the need of qualifiers. The “B” class are still awarded trophies for the day, but do not collect any series points. -
Bikes will be “tech” inspected when they line up for practice. The following things are looked at during inspection – functioning brakes / no broken spokes / no excessively worn wheel bearings / no broken levers / no metal handlebar “bush” guards / no exposed handlebar ends / no “stuck” foot pegs / approved helmet. Check these things yourself before coming out to avoid problems.
-
Practice rounds start at 9:00am and the big bikes are divided by skill level only, not size or age. Small bike practices are divided by size of bike. Each rider is entitled to “1 practice only” regardless of the number of classes they signed up for. The intent of a practice on a race day is to introduce the track and its condition to the rider. Riders with multiple bikes will need to choose which to ride, or split their allotted practice time between both bikes.
-
Racing order is posted during practice. We go through the race order once before lunch and then start over again after lunch.
-
Racing starts immediately following practice.
-
Remember to monitor the results board to make sure you were scored properly. If not, politely take the posted results to sign up and let staff know of the problem within 30 minutes of the results being posted. It may take a little time for the results to be reviewed and reposted. Your options afterthis step is to discuss the problem with the Event Refereee and then as a last resort with CMA Head Office letting them know you did start the protest within the allotted 30 minutes of the results being posted.
-
Depending on the number of Riders/Motos, the day can end anytime between 3:30pm and 6:30pm.
-
Race fee is $30 for the 1st class and $25 for each additional class. Riders may sign-up for 3 classes max.
